Whether it means nothing or everything really does depend on the person who says it.
[Lark can't hide it, not when he was so dismissive earlier when Nazuna said it compared to this reaction.]
If she's like me in that regard too... it might be difficult for her to say it, even if she thinks so. Sometimes the more something means to you, the harder it is to put to words.
[ Well the question is, is it something he wants? He hasn't thought about it and he doesn't want to think too hard about it. Subconsciously, he knows it's a kettle of fish. If he starts wanting things from her, wouldn't that seem insincere of him? If he starts hoping that maybe one day she'll call him cute, isn't that unfair to her?
Wouldn't that just be setting himself up for disappointment, because he knows that's not happening, anyway?
Besides, he can't imagine himself as being someone she'd call "cute", so that was getting ahead of himself. ]
...She's not here anyway, so... [ No point thinking about it. ]
[He can see Lark trying to work his way through it in his mind. Although he can't read it, he smiles patiently while Lark tries to figure it out for himself.]
...well, that's okay. It's not like you have to figure it right now anyway, right?
[He starts idly flipping through hangers.]
But if you wanna see her again at the end of all this-- it can't hurt to give it a little thought, right?
[His hand stops for a brief moment, before he drops it.]
I... have some things I have to think through myself while I have the chance.
[So give it some thought young man!! Nazuna will let it slide for now, although he fidgets with the hanger between his fingers for a moment.]
...there's a saying “if you chase two rabbits, you won't catch either one”. But if you had an unrealistic dream like that, just knowing it's true wouldn't make you wish it was possible any less. At least... that's the way it is for me.
I don't know if it's really possible, but if it is... there are some pretty important people that I hurt pretty badly in the past I'm going to need to face if I want to be able to stand proudly next to them again.
Lark knows he doesn't know all the details, and he doesn't really think there's much he can say about it. So after a pause, he tip toes just a little and tries to reach up to pat Nazuna on the head. ]
Whatever happens, that's on me. It's my dream, so I have to be the one to put in the work. If there really is a time when they can say I've earned it... I'll be sure to be ready by then, so I can tell them... both of them... the things I need to.
Mmm... well I have something casual so it would probably be a good idea to pick up some good work clothes.
Honestly, I'm used to being put in all kinds of clothes for work back home, so as long as it gives off a good impression, I don't mind what it looks like.

Then again, you're pretty cheeky yourself. It's probably good for you to have someone like that to keep you in line~

[ No comment on Crane keeping him in line, ]

But I'm sure she probably thinks that's one of your cute qualities too.

[ It doesn't stop his face from turning red, however. ]

[ He's seen how defensive she gets, and sometimes he doesn't feel like he should add to it, no matter how much he teases her otherwise. ]

Things like what...?

Let's both work hard so when this is all over we won't have any regrets.
